Support for every stage

Prenatal support

Prenatal wellness consults: Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic lens on your pregnancy that includes eastern medicine nutrition.

Prenatal yoga tailored to your trimester and constitution

Cupping if recommended

Moxibustion for breech presentation (typically from week 32–36)

Birth planning and preparation

Childbirth education: anatomy, stages of labor, intervention options

The LunaLei difference: Most prenatal support focuses on the physical. We also track your Ayurvedic constitution through each trimester: how your prakriti shifts with pregnancy, what foods and herbs support you specifically, and how to prepare your nervous system as much as your body.

Birth Support

Continuous labor support: physical, emotional, and informational

Comfort measures: positioning, breath, movement, pressure points

Reiki during labor for pain, fear, and transition support if preferred

Advocacy and communication with your care team

Partner support: guiding them through how to help you

Immediate postpartum presence: for the first sacred hours

The LunaLei difference: I hold the energetic space of birth as much as the physical. Reiki during transition, grounding practices between contractions, and an understanding of the body's innate wisdom. Birth is not a medical event to be managed, but a sacred threshold to be honored.

Postpartum Care

Postpartum doula visits: practical and emotional support in your home

Chinese Medicine herbal postpartum cooking: warming, nourishing meals rooted in TCM recovery traditions

Cupping for physical recovery, tissue healing, and milk flow support

Moxibustion for postpartum qi and blood restoration

Reiki for emotional healing, baby blues support, and nervous system recovery

TCM/Ayurveda postpartum consult: recovery protocol and herbal support

The "sitting the month" tradition: In TCM, the 40 days after birth are sacred for recovery. The mother is kept warm, well-fed on specific nourishing foods, and protected from cold and overexertion. This isn't outdated, it's one of the most evidence aligned practices in traditional medicine. LunaLei postpartum care is built on this foundation.

Childbirth education

Anatomy and physiology of labor: what's actually happening in your body

Stages and signs of labor: early, active, transition, and pushing

Pain management options: natural and medical, understanding the tradeoffs

Common interventions: induction, augmentation, cesarean, episiotomy

Newborn care basics and the fourth trimester

Available in-person or virtually

A different kind of birth prep: I weave TCM and Ayurvedic perspectives into childbirth education. Understanding birth as a rite of passage, preparing the nervous system alongside the mind, and building a trust in the body that no hospital class teaches.

LunaLei Wellness original

Postpartum cooking with herbs

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the foods eaten in the first 40 days after birth are medicine. Warming, blood-building, Qi restoring: prepared with specific herbs that support the mother's recovery in ways no standard postpartum meal can.

  • Constitution tailored recipes

Your postpartum protocol is matched to your Ayurvedic constitution and TCM pattern. Not a generic recipe for every new mother

  • Warming soups and broths

Slow cooked with LunaLei herb packets that include astragalus, dang gui, goji, and other blood-building herbs. Restoring what labor depletes

  • Congee and rice porridges

Easy to digest, deeply nourishing: the traditional recovery food of Chinese Medicine, adapted to your taste and recovery needs.

  • Lactation supporting foods

Specific herbs and foods known in TCM to support milk production, uterine involution, and energy restoration.

  • A conventional doula offers presence, comfort, advocacy and that matters enormously. What LunaLei brings is all of that, plus a complete healing system that addresses the mother's body, energy, and recovery at a depth most birth support never reaches.

  • 1. TCM and Ayurveda woven throughout

Every stage of support: prenatal, birth, and postpartum is informed by two ancient healing traditions designed specifically around women's bodies and life transitions.

  • 2. Hands on therapies, not just presence

Reiki, cupping, moxibustion, and Chinese herbal cooking are integrated into your doula care not referred out. You get a complete healing container not just emotional support.

  • 3. The emotional and energetic body

Postpartum recovery isn't just physical. Grief, identity shifts, hormonal swings, and nervous system overwhelm are all addressed here with tools that work.

  • 4. Continuity from fertility to postpartum

If you've worked with LunaLei for fertility or preconception care, your doula support is a natural continuation: not starting over with someone who doesn't know your body.

  • 5. Collaborative with your medical team

I work alongside your OB, midwife, or hospital team not in opposition to them. Holistic and conventional care together produce the best outcomes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a doula if I already have an OB or midwife?

Your OB or midwife provides medical care, monitoring, clinical decisions, and delivery. A doula provides continuous emotional and physical support throughout labor, which is something clinical providers often can't offer due to their workload and responsibilities.

When should I hire a doula?

There's no single right time. Some clients reach out in the first trimester, others at 30 weeks, and some don't connect until late in pregnancy or even postpartum. Earlier is generally better for building a relationship and incorporating prenatal support, but it's rarely too late.

If you're interested in the prenatal yoga, reiki, moxibustion, or consult work, earlier in pregnancy allows us to do the most together.

For birth and postpartum support specifically, connecting by the third trimester is ideal.

Why use herbs in postpartum cooking?

In TCM, the 40 days after birth sometimes called "sitting the month" are considered the most critical window for a mother's long-term health. The foods eaten during this time are chosen specifically to rebuild blood, restore qi, warm the uterus, and support milk production.

I come to your home and prepare meals using Chinese medicinal herbs: herbs like dang gui (angelica root), astragalus, goji berries, and black sesame cooked into soups, porridges, and warming dishes that your body can absorb easily while recovering.

The recipes are adapted to your constitution and taste preferences. It's one of the most tangible, nourishing things I offer, and it's rare.

How is your work different from a conventional doula?

A conventional doula offers presence, comfort measures, and advocacy all of which matter deeply.

What LunaLei adds is a complete healing framework: TCM and Ayurvedic understanding of the mother's body through each stage, hands-on therapies (reiki, cupping, moxibustion) integrated into the care, and postpartum cooking rooted in thousands of years of recovery medicine.

You're not just hiring someone to be with you: you're accessing a healing tradition that was specifically designed to support women through birth and postpartum recovery.

Do you offer support after a traumatic birth or loss?

Yes. Birth trauma and pregnancy loss deserve their own kind of care, not just a return to "recovery mode." Reiki, TCM support for grief and shock, and a held, unhurried space are available here. You can still opt for herbal cooking to restore your body and emotional support.
